| Forget about clunky phones, hit and miss Wi-Fi and slow-as-molasses PDAs. If you want to surf the net wherever you want without having to wait an eternity for pages to load, you need the splendiferous Pocket Surfer2. This sleek slice of technological excellence lets you browse web pages in all their glory, with full graphics, Java support and other complex web functionality - anytime, anyplace. No wires, no Wi-Fi, no contract. And you won't have to fool around searching for hotspots as the Pocket Surfer2 has a built-in GPRS modem. Simply switch on and you can start surfing immediately. In terms of speed, the PocketSurfer2 is a proverbial hare compared to the tortoise-like competition. Acceleration technology allows you to zip around the web like greased lightning. Pages that take two minutes to download on comparative devices take under seven seconds on this zippy gizmo. Wow! Unlike smartphones and similar jack-of-all-trades machines, the PocketSurfer2 features a gorgeous 5" color screen, so you won't need a magnifying glass to read pages like this. And if you'd rather staple stinging wasps to your tongue than type an address using tricky keys, help is at hand because the Pocket Surfer2 boasts a backlit QWERTY keyboard and integrated mouse pointer. But what about all this free surfing business? Well, believe it or not, it's true. With the PocketSurfer2 you pay for the device not the usage. Upon purchase you get 20 hours free usage per month for a whole year. That's an hour surfing every weekday! (If you're a real geek a piddly £5.99 per month gives you unlimited usage). Talking of surfing every day, the Pocket Surfer2 is juiced by a rechargeable battery that gives 4 hours surf time or 5 days standby. Short of miniaturizing your laptop with a ray gun and scoring a free contract, we can think of no better way to enjoy the web when you're out and about. Whether you're Googling around, checking emails or gaping at the orangey wonder that is Firebox.com, the Pocket Surfer2 is w.w.w.one helluva cool tool.

Much better than expected after reading some negative reviews. Never going to be as fast and smooth as a £700 laptop and takes a day or 2 to get used to it, but it's not too expensive and it really really does work. Excellent gadget, I would expect Mk3 and 4 should be out in a year or 2 and if that supports audio and video it'll fly off the shelves. 9/10.
I was saving up for a conventional PDA ( I'm a medical student and liked the idea of carrying electronic versions of massive medical textbooks around in my pocket for easily accessible reference) but then I found out about the Pocket Surfer2. This is without a doubt the best purchase I have ever made. Why pay for electronic books/software etc when its all free online? The BNF, Kumar and Clarke, medical journals, emedicine, not to mention email and access to online question banks such as onexamination.com, 123doc. You wouldn't get full access to all these sites on a PDA. And, when I'm asked a question about some rare disease on the ward round I just wait for the doctor to be distracted for a moment while I google it on my pocket surfer. So. . Are you a medical student or a doctor enviously looking at your colleagues PDAs? Forget it...those guys are idiots spending 100s of pounds on software and electronic books that aren't even up to date. The pocket surfer allows instant access to the web which is a quicker way to retrieve up to date information fast. Forget the PDA revolution get a pocket surfer instead!
I first thought when I looked at it that it would be pretty rubbish, with it stalling all the time, but it is actually really good. It's a lot less fiddly than my pda and my phone. 100%.
Got mine yesterday, not bad, definitely handy. Worth the £180? - short answer yes. The build quality isn't fantastic but the page loading is good, and it even displays my webmail pages spot on, so I'm quite pleased with it. Hopefully they will release some new firmware for it and allow it to be used as a modem!
It's a totally fantastic piece of kit!
I wish I'd had one years ago!!!
Love it :). | |||||||||||||
I have been reading all the reviews about this little gizmo. I am extremely well amazed. I put an order from firebox and cannot wait to received it. I am so excited now.
Absolutely amazing!! I love it!! Was a little skeptical about the claimed page download speeds but actually I'm finding they're probably even quicker than claimed. Great to have such clear, full graphics web pages in such a pocket-sized product. I haven't found a webpage yet that fails to work; this even works on the train. I can even trade shares / spreadbet online through this gadget. Great, great, great!!!!
